Mistakes on national newspaper websites seem to be increasing.
This is probably because in a lot of cases work goes unsubbed and in the hurry to get content online before a rival, mistakes are missed. However, some of it just appears to be sloppy. On one national paper’s website on Monday I noticed two missing words in the first two paragraphs of a story. This has since been rectified so I won’t point out which site it was on.
Has anyone ever looked through a national newspaper or news website and noticed the kind of mistake that makes you smile? It’s that moment of glee when you realise that even the best subs and editors sometimes miss the most obvious bloomers. This is one I noticed on Reuters yesterday, note the end of the fourth paragraph. http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE4916AA20081003?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews
